Alex & the Artistry
Being an artist has been a personal journey for myself to explore, express, and heal. But by creating various forms of visual communication, I have become seen. Exposed and vulnerable to a world who gives creativity and imagination little importance. Judged by those who find it strange to express themselves in a manner that stands out, looks weird, or feels different than the norm.
In sharing my work, I in turn share a part of myself. Mastery calls for imperfection first. Repetition of skills in order to refine the outcome. Artistry beckons for attention and reflection. For I must sit with myself and slow down enough to understand what I am and what I am not capable of. This requires a lot of truth, for I cannot hide my craftsmanship. This in turn reflects honesty through every composition. Revealing not only my composition, but also myself to the outside world.
